Alissa Ellis, Ladies’ Club Captain

Alissa Ellis, Ladies’ Club Captain

Name:

Alissa Ellis

Role on Committee:

Ladies’ Captain

Harrier since:

I have been a member of Hailsham Harriers since 2012 and have never looked back!

I enjoyed running at school and took part in various events with 1500m and Cross Country being my favourites. I was also a keen hockey and netball player, but my focus was my love of equestrian activities.

It wasn’t until my youngest son’s diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy that I started running again. I was keen to do a sponsored event and decided to run the Great South Run for Muscular Dystrophy UK.

I thoroughly enjoyed the achievement and was keen to keep running so decided to join a running club.

In true ‘Red and Black’ spirit I was made to feel very welcome during my first few training sessions and Norman Harris was particularly supportive and encouraging.

Since joining Hailsham Harriers my running has improved enormously and I have really enjoyed taking part in various competitions with XC being my favourite.

Reason for running:

For me there are SO many reasons why I enjoy running.

1) Health benefits -both mental and physical.

2) The social aspect, meeting friends old and new.

3) Being outside in the fresh air and enjoying the hills on the South Downs.

4) It satisfies my competitive streak!

What I bring to the committee:

As ladies’ captain I aim to promote and encourage members to take part in anything that Hailsham Harriers has to offer, you will always be guaranteed support in achieving your goals.
