Lewes Downland 10 Mile
Sunday 2nd October – 10:30am
Whilst our marathon Heroes pounded the streets of London and the villages closer to home, seven brave Harriers headed to Lewes to take part in the Lewes Downland 10 miles 🖤❤️
A soggy, wet morning ☔️is an understatement as Dan Shipo, The Bassetts, Fluffy, Barts, Hannah and Tinks gathered in Graham Purdye’s old school hall to avoid the sideways rain and windy weather.
Those of you who have ever run the Lewes Downland 10, will know how pleasant a course it would be on a sunny, dry day up on the downs, however for our Harriers and 159 fellow runners we certainly had our first taste of the Winter Cross Country Season ahead. With plenty of mud, grassy tracks, gravel paths, chalky hills and what seemed like several mountains to climb, the route presented a mixture of everything.
Our Harriers gave it their best and despite looking as though we had all been through a swamp, the feelings of elation at the end for simply surviving the 10 miles were enormous. Even the sun made an appearance for the journey home 🚗
Here’s the full Harriers results from the morning – Barts, First Harrier home in a speedy 1:14:06, followed by Tinks 1:23:12 and 1st in age, Dan Shipo 1:25:04, Mark Bassett 1:28:18, Fluffy 🐌 1:30:03, Hannah DC 1:40:48 and Steph Bassett 👧🏼 1:41:04.
