It was a drizzly day for the first of the Saturday Sussex league XC fixtures on 12th Oct, however, the weather didn’t prevent some fantastic performances from Hailsham Harriers.
7 Harrier ladies took part in the 3 mile event. First home and second overall in a very competitive ladies race was Harriet Bloor (U17) in a hugely impressive time of 18.38, Harriet was also the first U17 lady.
Rachel Hillman was the next Harrier home in 12th place in a time of 19.26 followed by Alissa Ellis 15th in 19.43. Annette Feakes completed the ‘A’ team in 57th place with 22.25.
The ladies ‘B’ team comprised of Rachel Sales (U17) 86th 25.45, Wendy Oates 87th 25.48 & Julie Chicken 88th, 25.51. This was Rachel’s first XC competition for the Harriers and she must be commended for her brilliant attitude and determination.
Graham Purdye was the only male entry for the Harriers and was the first O60 to complete the 5 mile course in a time of 33.46 in 84th place. Well done ‘Team Graham’!
Are there any other men who’d like to keep Graham company? Next fixture Lancing 9th November. Please see club captains if you’d like to run.
